And Then Love A Pride and Prejudice Variation Prequel Willow Hall Romance Book 1 edition by Leenie Brown Romance eBooks
Great novella taking place in Kympton, prior to events of P&P. I loved original charaters: Phillips, Lucy, Aunt Tess and Mr. Harker. The villains of the story: Lucy's evil uncle and his accomplice, George Wickham were ruthless and scheming. In Mr. Tolson we got a good glimpse of what Wickham will become in the future. It was a disturbing reminder how vulnerable women were to men's manipulations and abuse. It was sad as well, that local community was so eager to spread harmful gossip about somebody whom they knew all their lives. Luckily everything was put back to right by the heroes of the story.Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

And Then Love A Pride and Prejudice Variation Prequel Willow Hall Romance Book 1 edition by Leenie Brown Romance eBooks Reviews
Love can be found unexpectedly in the most difficult circumstances, when there's Faith.
And a warming story about enduring love above everything.
Not as well developed as Leenie Brown's longer novels, but still a sweet story
Beginning of this couple -- who figure in several later volumes is good. Wicked is his usual nasty self. Quick read.
Not one to write bad reviews, but as nice as this was on it's own it was way too short and seemed quickly pulled together with very thin attachment to Pride and Prejudice variations- sorry to say it felt like that was for marketing only for the author's other books in this series - very disappointed.
I enjoyed the novel very much. It held my attention throughout.
This was a powerful novella that will have you cringing and holding your breath while you gasp and groan at the suspenseful, evil machinations of a sociopath. Most excellent!!!
Brown created a prequel to our P&P story that follows Wickham’s refusal to take orders and his being compensated instead of receiving the living. The Kympton living was then happily given to another, Philip Dobney.
Our story opens with Lucy Tolson having recently lost her father. Before he died, they compiled a list of possible marriage candidates for her. Lucy has systematically marked off all the names, for various reasons, except one, Philip Dobney. She had also created another list indicating all the reasons why she would make a good parson’s wife. Lucy has known Philip all her life. They grew up together along with Darcy and were always friends. She knows Philip is a good man and will make an excellent husband.
Why the rush? Uncle Tolson, her father’s brother, has sent a letter that if she is not married by the end of two months; she has to come to him. She knows without a doubt that he will take her dowry and she will never see a coin. Her marriage prospects for a decent man will then be nonexistent. She will be forced to live under his wife and help with their horrid children. Since Uncle is a gambler and not a nice person, he could easily give her to anyone to pay off his debts.
The story is a quick read and there are sections that will absolutely raise the hair on your head. My skin crawled as Uncle Tolson, slimy scumbag that he was, wove his evil web of deceit and treachery. He was just plain evil; a sociopath that cared for nothing but getting his way. He wanted money and was not above doing whatever it took to get it, even being cruel to his relations.
I groaned as the author created an atmosphere of hopelessness as Lucy endured emotional abuse at the hands of her uncle. He was disgusting, vile and just plain evil, evil, evil. One good thing, Brown didn’t let me suffer too long. It was short lived and I soon could breathe easier as Philip, Darcy and others worked together to create a wonderfully resourceful plan in order to help Lucy overcome and outwit her uncle and Wickham. Oh yeah, Wickham… he emerged from under his slimy rock to cause trouble. However, that too was short lived.
The author was so creative and really worked my emotions as I read the story. Well done!!! Most excellent!!!
This is a very good beginning to a series that I am looking forward to reading. There are new characters along with some of our favorites and the story line has plenty of variety and action. One of the interesting things is that it is not a retelling of the Austen original. I like that, though I am a great fan of JAFF. The stories are short so I won't go into details other than to say that anyone who reads this first book will, like me, be anxious to read the next one to see what happens. Enjoy
